Happy Spring!!!

Happy Spring!!!! I can't belive how warm it is!!! Mid 90's! Hope you are all well! I know it's been a while, but I thought I'd write this time because I am so darn proud of my family!!!

So here's the Skylar and Marleigh update!!! Skylar became a Brownie last week after a year of being a "Daisy". She worked hard on her petals (badges) doing projects and community service and lots of recycling!!! I am the troop leader so I was especially proud to see all the 9 girls make it to Brownies!! Skylar is also on a pre-competition team for gymnastics called Rising Stars. We were really honored she made the team. She is working really hard and it is really amazing what she does being so little. Ryan gets to see most of her practices, too, because it's in the evenings. Ry and I are Olympic nuts, as you know, so we can't help but playing the olympic song in our head every time she does her bar routine or skills on the beam.:)

Also, Ry is going to be Sky's t-ball coach in the late summer. Go Ry and Sky!!! I hope to be his assistant and Mar the mascot!!! Also, the girls have signed up for British Soccer camp and swim lessons this summer!! Mar will start the"First Kicks"part of British Soccer Camp. I can't wait for it to be her time to shine!
I have golf lessons starting next month!! Can't wait to be able to whoop Ry's buttocks on the course!! No, we are not COMPETITIVE or anything!!!
Ry has such vision in yard projects and has created the most amazing "vision" for our yard. We have a good start on it and he is doing such and amazing job!!! Can't wait to have you all up to see it. Maybe late in summer/early fall!!! Ry has agreed to take Salsa dancing lessons with me ,too! So make sure to ask him to show you his "moves"!
Hope you are all well and love you all! Get well Nonni!!! And Happy Mother's Day!!!

The Cast

The cast of The Faithful Friend
(and our Director!)

I loved this show!! Yeah for Commedia!!

Ok: the Time is Now

So it has been a long time. So I figured it's time for an update. Only seven days of classes left!!! Yes!!! Do you think I'm excited? Boy am I!! I'm so excited to start living a life again that actually includes sleeping as an everyday event. And not writing papers as an everyday event.
So, I just finished my show a week ago. It was a hit and everybody just loved it. I have copies if anybody wants to see it. We're thinking about having an encore performance, because we've had so many people request one. It's up in the air right now: it depends on people's schedules and all that jazz. I would definitely do it. Even though the show was a big reason I was getting so little sleep, I would still give it up in a heartbeat if it meant I could still do the show.
That's my new passion: Commedia Dell'Arte. I absolutely love it. I want so much to get really involved in it, but it's so unknown here there really isn't a chance. There are two troupes in the US: one in San Fran and the other Boston. My director told me that if I wanted to get more involved with it I'd have to do the same thing she did: do it myself. So, this summer I'm going to try and study up on it and maybe next year I can get some things going. I just love it so much. It's my favorite type of theatre.
Ok, funny story: I had car trouble again. But this time it involved my roommate. One night we had a craving for tater tots. Well, I happened to have the keys to my other roommate's car because I'd driven her to school that day. So we decided to run to the local Creamery and get some tater tots and ice cream. Well, we get there and park, and my roommate shuts her door, and then we've got a problem. The seatbelt got stuck in the door, and it was in such a way that you couldn't pull it out, and you couldn't open or close the door! It was terrible! It was the stupidest thing that could happen! So we sat there forever trying to do anything with it and couldn't. We felt really bad because it was our other roommates car! So finally we just went in and got our stuff, adding a box of treats for the roommate, and then went home. We were both about to cry. We felt so bad. We told her, and her fiance who was there. She was totally cool about it, because it wasn't broken, just stuck. So the two of them went out there to try and fix it. They were there for about 20 minutes, and then they finally got it open. We felt so relieved! But it was the most retarded thing ever to happen!!! But now we can laugh about it... a little...
That's it for now. I may have more stuff to say at the end of the week though... ;) Talk to you all soon!!!
PS: The picture is my alter ego, Arlecchino, and my fellow servant in the show, Pedrolino. We liked to wrestle like kids in the performance: so much fun!

okay, I know it's been a while.....

Okay, I know it's been a while since my last post, but I've been super busy. That's right. Not just busy, but Super busy! I've been taking a web class on how to design web pages and I didn't realize (nor did most of my class judging from our prof.'s e-mail) that it was a quick class lasting only half the semester. So...that mean I had to get my 5 page web site up and running much sooner than expected! The last week I've spent it fine tuning everything and posting it for my final You can check it out at: www.geocities.com/jmsnutmeg/Home.html. I'm kind of proud of my first real attempt. (the store one doesn't count) I actually learned html for this and since you all know how much I LOVE maths and sciences (they being tools of satan) you can imagine the tredipdation I had going into the class. But, for the most part and barring the days when I screamed and cried over my computer, most of it made sense and actually WORKED. Amazing. There's been lots of drama at work, at home, at school, etc. Stephen dropped a 10 pound weight on his foot yesterday morning at the gym so we were at the doctors yesterday making sure it wasn't broken. Luckily it isn't, but somehow I doubt he's going to rest it for the 6 weeks she suggested (especially with Ryan recommending he take some pain medication and suck it up!). Yes, miracles do happen and Mom actually wrote a blog. I'll get her back in here one of these days. And no Ryan, I seriously doubt she's ready to vote for Hilary. Espcecially not since she hisses every time Hilary comes on tv. Kiely your hair is too short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop cutting it!!!!!!!! I was okay with the flapper look, but I'm not buying the 'I'm just going to shave it for the summer heat' excuse. Okay, Love you all-it's time for American Idol!

The New Look

Check out the new look for the day! Props to my roommate!

Random House!!

So, for those of you who don't know, the house I live in, my roommates and I named it The Random House. So, if you ever hear me say that or write it somewhere, that's what I'm referring to. So, we were having some fun here at the house today after stake conference. So we sat outside to relax and ended up playing around with the camera. Check 'em out!!
PS: I've fallen. I have a new hairstyle, and surprise surprise, I'm wearing make-up!! Aaaahhhhh!!! Scary!!!!! :)

Spiritual Insight

Oh man!! I love Elder Bednar! He's amazing! We had stake conference this weekend, and Elder Bednar of the Twelve Apostles was here and spoke to us. And, I got to shake his hand! It was so cool. But he's so funny and just sincere and has a way of really keeping his audience captivated by his comments. He's great.
So, he said something that led me to start thinking about various things, and then I happened to see a scripture that really made me think about our family. It's Luke 6:21, "Blessed are ye that weep now: for ya shall laugh." We have a lot that we've gone through together, a lot that we're going through now, and a lot that we will go through together. And there's going to be a lot of tears and sadness, but even though that's happening now, we will laugh in the future. That scripture just gave me a whole new outlook.
So think positive everyone, because soon enough, we will all be laughing our little heads off. ;)

I love you all!!!!

Oh my goodness!!

The other half of the Smiths responded!!! The end is coming!! It's good to know you're still alive there Ry! :) And hey, everyone's got their talents and... addictions. With other people it's heroine, buying shoes, eating marshmallow concoctions: mine just happens to be blogging. So, respect the skill my friend! Don't be hatin'! And, Bets is close behind me in blogging time, so watch closely at home before you go abroad! :)
But isn't it a wonderful feeling to blog? It's relaxing, time consuming, addictive: I mean what else is better? :) But, maybe this summer I'll enter a program, if I do drop out...
Good luck at our luck. Remember though: hitchhiking is dangerous. Be careful. :)
80 degrees... pishposh. It got to 55 degrees today!!!! I went bike riding in shorts, which was amazing, and afterward layed out in the sun and read a book. It was the greatest feeling ever! Oh, and scary story! I was riding my bike, and this guy almost hit me! Luckily I saw him and swerved out of the way, and he stopped as I was swerving. So it was all good. But if we hadn't seen each other, he would have hit me straight on. Talk about fish food.
And, you should all know: I finished the fourth season of '24'!!! It was so good!! One more and I'll be on the current season!! I'm so excited!!

Love you all!
Thanks for the concern Ry... ;)

You go, Smiths!

This is such a great Blog week for the Smiths. What we lack in luck we make up in for in Blogging ability. First Mom, now Ryan... almost brings a tear to my eye, oh wait...it's just an eyelash, but in any case I'm sure proud of us all! So let's not dwell on our bad luck, but revel in the true talents of our brood. Three cheers for the Smiths!!

Hip Hip Horay,

Hip, Hip Horay,

Hip Hip, oh DARN IT I just fell and broke my hip... off to the hospital.

Our luck stinks.
-Bets

Ryan In The House

Mom on the computer? The Apocalypse is upon us! This is my first time even reading any of these postings 'cause Bets has been picking up the slack for us. So Kiely hopes it's going to be 45, I hate to rub it in but we're looking at '80's next week. So if Mom can now use the computer does that means she's progressive enough to vote for Hillary? Just kidding, maybe.
I think we should all have an intervention with Kiely for her blog addiction. I could see her dropping out of school and just blogging for money. I'm scared for you sis. Stay strong.
Bets and I are going to Vegas in two weeks to try the Smith luck again. I'm sure we'll keep with tradition and hitchhike home.
Enough for now I have to watch college basketball to do some 'studying ' for the college basketball tournament.
Stay strong Kiely, start with one day at a time.

Ryan Out!

Mom used a computer!!!!

Mom used a computer to communicate with all of us!!! That was so exciting!! Hey, Mom has an e-mail address, so I can get her her own invitation to join so it uses her name and not Megan's. What do you think???

Luck? What's that?

So, I give up on luck. I decided, I don't want any luck anymore. I'm going to make my own luck. I decided, if I want things to happen, I'm going to do what I have to and make them happen, because this whole luck thing just hasn't been working for our family. So let's do it everyone!! It's kind of like the show I'm in. At this point in the semester, I'm really tired, and our rehearsals are always really late, so by the time we meet, we're all dead with no energy to speak of. But this show is super high intensity energy level. But if I just expect energy to magically come to me, nothing happens and I have a horrible rehearsal. But if I eat the right things a little before, and if we do the proper warm up exercises, then I have excess energy, and rehearsal is fantastic!! So, no more waiting and counting on luck! I'm going full force after what I want!!!
So, rehearsal is going fantastic. I got a compliment from my director last night, which really made me happy, because I hadn't really been happy with my performance. She said I found a lot of really good physical positions and pointed it out to everyone. That boosted my confidence: hopefully it's there tonight as well. I love this show and am so excited to perform it in three weeks! It's going to be awesome!!!
The weather today was so nice too!! It reached like 45 degrees I think!!!!! It was great and I wanted to lay outside and have a picnic!! I didn't have time, but I did walk around with no gloves on, and I studied outside on a bench without a coat and it felt marvelous to know the sun still radiated heat!!!!
School is going great: I love school. Today in make-up, though, I almost died!! My skin felt like it was going to tear away! Literally!!! We were doing old age make-up, and so we used latex to create wrinkles on our faces. Do you know how you get latex off? You just tear it!! It's latched onto your precious sensitive skin, and you just rip it! I didn't have the courage to do it to myself and had to have a friend do it. That stuffed just grossed me out when it was on me. And I think I lost all the hair on my face when I ripped it off. The picture I posted here is like a week ago when we did middle aged: that was pretty fun.
Anyway, I'm neglecting homework that's due tomorrow morning, so I better get to it so I'm not up till 2 in the morning again! I'm so tired!! But oh, life is so good!
And I get to finish the fourth season of '24' this weekend!!!! ;)

I love you all!!!!!

Oh, and did you all know that this is a real saying: "Hell bent for leather"? My director said that the other night and we all looked at her like she was crazy!!!

Message from MOM

hi, It will take me too long to actually write something on this computer as I am doing one letter at a time! Yea........taking a senior class teaches you something. (not much but something) Well got to go watch American Idol. I am not sure why because we always get mad but we are addicted!!!! Loved all the pictures --- didn 't know Megan put that lovely picture of me in the shorts. Love you all
MOM

yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea! yea!

If we changed our name, would the bad luck go away?????

Okay, not the most positive of titles, but....we've had a pretty hard week...month....year....decade? I'm not sure who won the megalotto (probably a CEO or someone who had already won) but it wasn't US-and we were so hoping for that money! As the rest of CA I"m sure. And then Christian wasn't feeling too good about his court appearance. And...well, you get the idea. Someday we're going to have some GOOD luck, right? As for me...there's lots of drama going on at work as we're discussing some changes for next year. Things we didn't want changed are going to be and things we DID want changed, aren't. They set up a last minute open house this saturday just for us in the ECE to try to fill up the spots and none of us were very happy about giving up another Saturday (four total, five counting our night meeting with Las Madres) especially as everyone has kids in sports, etc. Why do you suppose there's always drama? I'm in a 'designing a webpage' class which I"m actually having fun in. I just have a working webpage right now, but I'll let you know when I actually have some sort of site up so you can all ooohhh and aaaahhhh. It's an online class which I love, and the teacher seems really nice-actually more interested in having us getting it right as opposed to just giving out back grades. Live Oak baseball is in full swing and we've won our 3 games (knock on wood). Stephen made two of our four winning points yesterday so that was exciting. The weather has been BEAUTIFUL here and they say it might actually get up to 78 on Sunday. Very nice.

Hey Guys, I think that I finally figured out how to work this thingamajig. I recently paosted pics form a road trip that I took to the Grand Canyon with two of my best friends over President's Day weekend. Check them out on our family website. School and studying for the LSAT are killing me but I still love life. I'll post again soon and let's hope that we can get this site going.

Can You Find the Y?

Can you find the Y????? (There's a white Y painted on the side of the mountain!! It took me awhile to find it, and I look at it everyday!!)

Don't worry Bets, I think three inches of snow anywhere is too much!! We've been hit again here with snow, and it is soooooo cold!!!! I don't like it! I keep dreaming of California in the summer... even California in the winter with it's 6o degrees of "cold" weather. 60 degrees... whatever. That's sandals and shorts weather here! But, I would definitely go for any Cali weather, no matter what it is, any day of the week!!
But hey, Skylar's school got canceled with 3 inches of snow??!!?? That's amazing!! At BYU-Idaho, it had to reach -30 before they would cancel school! True story! It happened in January!! My poor friends...
Hey, no giggling about Kiely with glitter on: do you have any idea how long it takes to get that stupid stuff off???? Forever!!! I'm going to die in 60 years with glitter still on my face and hair! Annoying!! But, I figure, taking this class and suffering for a little, my kids are going to have the coolest face paint designs on Halloween!! :)
Bets, you, competitive???? What???? I never would have guessed!!!! ;) But keep it up, because it keeps us beating the boys in football every Thanksgiving!!

I miss you guys!!!!! Have a wonderful week! Megan, I want to hear from you too!! Since this seems to be just a couple of the Smith girls... Boys are stupid! Oh, sorry, a feeling of late... :p Girl Power!!!! Love you all!!

More snow!

I know Kiely.. 3 inches isn't much in Utah... but we got 3 inches of snow last night!! And for us not used to that white stuff, it was pretty darn COOL! Sky had her first real Snow Day- school was closed! Which was great because we are all (except Ry) got sick and needed one more day to get better.
Had so much fun last weekend in MoHill!! Megan- I am so sorry I was a stick in the mud! I really wasn't feeling well, but my competitive nature wouldn't let me admit defeat.. I guess I was in denial! We are feeling better now!! Hope your Birthday was fabulous, Megan! Kiely, hearing about you with glitter on your cute little face makes me giggle!! BY the way, can we name this site Girls Rock or something? The rest of the fam doesn't know what they are missing- although I still think there is some kind of funny business going on because I didn't get invited to join THAT one. It reeks of a conspiracy against redheads and I will get to the bottom of it OR DIE TRYING....
Sorry, got carried away.

Anyways, here's a pic of our Winter Wonderland.. love you all... er... both.

Megan!!!

Happy Birthday Megan!!!!!!!! You're amazing and I hope you had an Amazing day!!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!!!!

TKD and Make-Up

Sounds like opposites, doesn't it? But, that's been my life the last two days. So, TKD was so funny, and I had to tell my roommates about it as soon as I got home. So, there are like two of us who have ever done TKD before, and we're both advanced. Everyone else is beginning. So, we were going to do this drill up and down the floor. So the instructor said that the beginning people would do a down defense block and then a punch and then switch arms and do it again, all the way down the floor. Then he said the advanced people were going to do something a little different, nd then he showed us: Oh goodness. Starting with the back leg, it was a back (meaning you turn around) hook kick, front kick, double punch, roundhouse, jump back hook kick, then back hook kick. Crazy!!! Out eyes popped out of our heads when he showed us what he wanted us to do!!! It was so funny because it was so different from what everyone else was doing!! But it was really fun!
So, make-up. I'm in a make-up class, and we were doing stylized the last couple days, which is basically anything not human, so like animals or whatever. So, I painted on my face this like Arlecchino mask: my character, because it was all colorful and cool looking. Anyway, I didn't realize how long it would take to finally get all the blue make-up out of my nose, all the glitter out of my hair that kept falling into the make-up I was putting on my face, and all the bright colors out of my eyebrows!!! Annoying! But really fun!!!

sleepin in and lovin' it!

We had a great weekend. Ryan and Betsy took us all out for dinner at Mimi's for my birthday and it was very generous and delicious! It was really fun-I got some body butters from the Auburn smiths and a sweet bear in a pink dress (that looked strangely like something Leigha would wear) from Denise. We saw The Illusionist-a good movie if you can catch it and spent some quality time watching the style network. We have much better fashion sense then some of those 'experts'. Maybe we should come up with our own show....I just spent a heavenly weekend of sleeping in for winter break. Now, unfortunately, it's back to work tomorrow and getting up before the big, yellow ball....you know I have to like my job to get up at the crack of dawn!

Snow Day!

Hi! It has been raining and like crazy and we've had our occasional snow flurry and hailstorms!
It is so fun to live in the mountains! Sky and Mar are showing off their new rainsuits (although Marleigh has been very camera shy). Hope you all are staying dry! Looking forward to seeing some of you this weekend! We are off to meet Daddy for dinner and a trip to Petroglyph! Love you all!

I hope this works out and people actually use it to keep in touch with everyone! Thanks Bets for the Blog! Though, I think there's a point when it's TMI with Ryan dancing... :) JK! That's a cute pic of Sky! And, I'm very happy to see you're way past your Blog Phobia!! Hum..... Monk should have one of those.... ;)
Oh, and by the way, you can add links to other sites or yours on here. So like if you have a family web site or a blog or something, you can post it on this page so people can access it! Have a great one everybody!!!

First Blog EVER!

Hi Everyone! This is our first blog EVER! Thanks Kiely for getting me over my Blog phobia!
Hope you all had a great President's Day. It's nice to have a day to relax. Skylar sang her "George Washington Abraham Lincoln" song all day. Marleigh knows the words too, so it was a nice duet! Ryan danced...
We are like the partridge family, minus the rhythm and musical talent!!
Thanks you guys for setting this up- looking forward to a Blog-filled future!
See you soon!

Try this out!

I'm trying to see if this will work for our family!!
